Employee Benefits

SJE-Rhombus provides our employee-owners with a complete benefits program that designed to meet a variety of needs, from medical coverage, retirement, death benefits for beneficiaries to offering a generous time off plan, educational assistance, wellness benefits and more!

Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
An ESOP is a federally qualified employee benefit plan governed and regulated by United States law. As an incentive and benefit to its employees, SJE-Rhombus established an ESOP in the 1988 fiscal year. The company contributes generously to this plan on an annual basis. The ESOP enables employees to share in the success of the company.

Health Insurance
SJE-Rhombus provides comprehensive major medical plan coverage. This plan is self-insured and administered by HealthPartners. Both local clinics as well as the local hospital, are in-network providers for the plan. SJE-Rhombus currently contributes a pre-determined amount toward the cost of the health plan. The employee's premium portion of the cost of the insurance premium contribution may be set up as a payroll deduction taken out before taxes.

Group Term Life / AD&D
SJE-Rhombus employees are provided a $15,000 Group Term Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment Policy at no charge to the employee.

Dental Insurance
The dental plan available to employees and family members is a voluntary plan. The premium, paid by the employee, may be set up as a payroll deduction taken out before taxes. This plan covers 100% of preventative services. The dental plan is administered by Fortis Benefits.

Paid Time Off
Paid Time Off (PTO) is a generous paid time off plan that combines vacation, personal time, funeral leave and sick time into one "bank". Hourly employees can earn up to 88 hours of PTO during their first year of employment. Salaried employees earn up to 15 days of PTO during their first year of employment. The accrual rates increase as the employee's length of service with the company increases, beginning after the first year of employment.

401(k) Plan
A 401(k) is a retirement plan that allows employees to make contributions of pre-tax dollars into a qualified plan that may include investing in stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds. SJE-Rhombus' 401(k) is administered by State Bank & Trust.

Short Term Disability Insurance
An insurance product offering employees the option to purchase a percentage of wage protection if he/she becomes disabled from date of disability up to six months. Short Term Disability is administered by Colonial Supplemental Insurance.

Long Term Disability Insurance
An insurance product offering employees the option to purchase a percentage of wage protection if he/she is disabled longer than six months. Long Term Disability is administered by UnumProvident.

Supplemental Life Insurance
An insurance product offering employees the option to purchase additional life insurance on themselves, spouse or dependents.

Extended Illness Bank (EIB)
The Extended Illness Bank (EIB) is a "bank" of time to be used for extended absence due to illness or temporary disability (including childbirth). EIB time is granted to full-time employees. Employees earn up to 3 days of EIB per year up to an accumulated maximum of 60 days.

Flexible Benefit Plan (Section 125)
Flexible Spending Accounts allow employees to pay unreimbursed health care, dependent care expenses, and other health related insurances on a pre-tax basis.

Health Care Spending Account: includes unreimbursed medical and dental expenses plus vision and hearing expenses. Annual maximum is $2,000 per calendar year.

Dependent Care Spending Account: includes employment-related expenses for the care of your dependent children (under age 13) or parents. Annual maximum is $5,000 per calendar year.

Other Insurances Account: includes non-payroll deducted premiums for health care related policies such as cancer, dental, individual health, contact lens or vision polices and disability plans.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The Employee Assistance Program provides confidential assistance to employees and their dependents that are experiencing and coping with a wide range of personal and work-related problems. Employees and their families have the opportunity to speak with a master's level counselor at no cost to the employee/dependent. SJE-Rhombus is not provided with any names of employees or dependents utilizing this benefit.

Educational Assistance
One of the Company's objectives is to encourage the professional career development of each individual employee. To emphasize this, SJE-Rhombus will reimburse 100% of the tuition and necessary material costs incurred for job related classes approved by SJE-Rhombus. Employees may be eligible for tuition reimbursement of other job-enhancement classes that are not directly job related at a rate of 75% of the tuition and material costs. Employees may also be eligible for reimbursement of other courses related to self-improvement. The company will pay 50% of the cost of approved courses related to self-improvement. Employees who have completed one year of continuous, full-time employment are eligible for this benefit.

Relocation Assistance
SJE-Rhombus will reimburse employees for moving expenses up to $2500. This benefit also includes a pre-move housing search for expenses related to this up to $300. The employee's residence from which the employee is moving must be at least 100 miles from SJE-Rhombus in order to receive this benefit.

Holiday Pay
The Company pays its full-time employees for the following seven holidays:

New Years Day
Memorial Day
Fourth of July
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
One Floating Holiday

Corporate Training Program
SJE-Rhombus is committed to providing the necessary training to its employees to provide a platform for their success. The formal training program consists of a generous budget providing for both in-house and external training.

Media Center
The Media Center contains tapes, books, videos, etc. on a variety of topics such as self-improvement, business, health, personal finances, etc. Employees are encouraged to checkout materials at any time.

Fitness Center
The Company's On-Site Fitness Center has a variety of aerobic (stationary bikes, treadmills, stair steppers) and weight-lifting equipment, lockers, and dressing rooms with showers. Employees and their families are welcome to use the facility.

Game Room / Recreation
SJE-Rhombus has added a game room for employees to use during breaks and lunch periods for recreation. The Game Room consists of a dart board, pool table, foosball and pin-pong table. In addition, the company has an on-site basketball court for lunch-time activity. Walking paths are also available.

Company Store
Employees may purchase a variety of items through the company store, such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts, office items etc, that bear the SJE-Rhombus logo.

Company Sponsored Sports Activities
SJE-Rhombus sponsors employee sports teams, currently including a men's softball team and women's volleyball team.

Community Involvement
The company believes that supporting local community organizations and events will help create a better life for community members and its employees. The Company, the SJE Foundation, and its employees participate and generously contribute dollars and time to many civic, educational and charitable causes including: The United Way, the local Community Center, Cancer Walks, Adopt-a-Highway program, Boys and Girls Club, the local food pantry, educational programs, and more.

Academic Scholarships
The SJE Foundation sponsors a scholarship program that allows SJE employees' children and spouses the opportunity to apply for annual scholarships to help fund their post high school education.

Employee Recognition / Appreciation
SJE-Rhombus recognizes that its most important asset is its employees. The company shows it appreciation to its employees in a variety of ways.

The Employee Activity Committee, made up of employee volunteers, plans monthly social/activity events including a festive Holiday Party.

The Wellness Committee, also comprised of a group of employee volunteers, promotes wellness and related activities throughout the year. Some events include speakers on wellness related topics, on-site health screenings, distribution of wellness information, and more!

Each Department Head recognizes and shows appreciation for his/her employees in a variety of ways that may include paid lunches, special recognition events, and other means of recognizing and appreciating employee's efforts.

SJE-Rhombus also recognizes its employees for years of service with the company. After the first year of service, the employee will receive a large fruit basket. After five years of service, the employee receives an SJE gold pin. For each ten, fifteen, twenty, and twenty-five year anniversary of service, a diamond is added to the SJE gold pin.

Employees are given the opportunity to apply for all posted job openings to advance to their professional potential. Many employees have been promoted as a result of SJE's commitment to its employees as well as the efforts put forth by its dedicated workforce.
